I recently asked Mr Paul Nilsson of GemLab in Auckland to appraise some substantial pieces, among them a 6-carat diamond ring, a pink diamond necklace and a Patek Philippe watch.  The jewellery was part of a US divorce settlement, and so had to be appraised for both the NZ and US markets, for both fair market and insurance/replacement values in varying currencies.

Paul’s report was thorough and professionally presented.  I had two subsequent valuations done, in New York and Chicago, and Paul’s results were very comparable to both of the US appraisals.

My US attorneys were of the opinion that Paul’s report would have stood up to cross examination in court, and that Paul would have made a credible expert witness for the case.

On a personal level, Paul was approachable, helpful and responded promptly to all enquiries.
